Making Hunger Holy

Today, Pastor Dan starts a new series called "Why He Died: Overcoming the Seven Deadly Sins."

Scripture References:

Philippians 3:18–21 (NRSV)
18 For many live as enemies of the cross of Christ; I have often told you of them, and now I tell you even with tears. 19 Their end is destruction; their god is the belly; and their glory is in their shame; their minds are set on earthly things. 20 But our citizenship is in heaven, and it is from there that we are expecting a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. 21 He will transform the body of our humiliation that it may be conformed to the body of his glory, by the power that also enables him to make all things subject to himself.

Zechariah 7:5–6 (NRSV)
5 …… When you fasted …... was it for me that you fasted? 6 And when you eat and when you drink, do you not eat and drink only for yourselves?

Isaiah 58:6–11 (NIV84)
6 “Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? 7 Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter……10 and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday. 11 The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden….
